This informative seminar provides claims professionals with tips and tools to deal with complex claims involving damage to electronic equipment. Participants will cover a wide variety of loss types including lightning, smoke and water damage, and will gain familiarity with techniques used to mitigate damage and minimize business interruption. Participants are also given the opportunity to grill technical experts with their most difficult questions.



This fast-paced program provides a highly educational glimpse of cutting-edge developments in the fields of computer forensics and data recovery. Participants will develop new methods to assist in the evaluation of claims and minimize the extent of electronic data losses. The program also includes a tutorial on the types and sources of electronic evidence, various media storage devices, and the procedures utilized to identify and gather the evidence. Basic methods of forensic assessment and analysis, as well as the techniques used to hide information such as encryption and password protection, will also be covered.



How to Identify Lightning Damage focuses on accurately identifying lightning damage for the purpose of determining policy coverage. Upon completion of the course, participants will understand the cause and effects of lightning, and how different types of electronic equipment are susceptible to damage. The program also covers how to distinguish lightning-related damage from other perils, such as power surges, normal wear and tear, intentional damage, etc. The seminar concludes with a question and answer session.



The course is designed for claim adjusters who are involved in the investigation, evaluation or adjustment of claims involving equipment under a manufacturer warranty or other service agreement. Participants will review powerful negotiating strategies that may lead to reinstatement of cancelled warranties, which can follow the occurrence of a loss, and will also gain familiarity with scientific-based approaches showing environmental conditions by losses are often within manufacturers' stated environmental specifications. With this knowledge, participants will be better equipped to address manufacturers' concerns.



Large-Scale, High Technology Catastrophe Losses reviews and addresses the many issues and special circumstances encountered with large, high technology losses. Forward-thinking organizational methods useful in dealing with large catastrophes and numerous obstacles that such losses often present will also be covered. Lastly, the program examines structured approaches to evaluate the various options available to handle large-scale high technology losses.



Investigating Electrical Incidents provides adjusters with basic knowledge of electrical systems, types of electrical incidents and steps to investigate cause. The three types of incidents discussed in detail are electrical fires, injury by contact and power quality damage, as well as an explanation of applicable codes and standards. Photographic examples are provided to assist in understanding electrical losses and to learn the best way to approach them.



Electronic & E-Commerce Claims provides the claims professional with an overall understanding of basic electronicdata losses, and the kinds of losses he or she will encounter. During the course of the seminar, participants will analyze causes of data loss including viruses and malicious attacks, and identify and apply legal concepts to data losses. Recent court rulings will also be covered in the program, enabling participants to gain a better understand of data losses.



Technical Tips: Emergency Response and Restoration is provided for adjusters to better understand how to properly respond to losses with equipment and learn why restoration is viable from a scientific standpoint. Claims professionals will be able to more thoroughly understand the various restoration techniques and when to use them, and will be provided with project examples to illustrate proper response and techniques.



This seminar explains how air conditioning systems work in residential and commercial applications. Attendees will become familiar with the various components that are used in air conditioning systems, and learn which air conditioning system components typically fail, and the reasons for such failures. The course will also include how to distinguish between the various causes of air conditioning system component failures.



With computers such an essential part of the claims process, adjusters frequently find themselves to be the recipients of subpoenas for electronic records such as file notes, word processing documents, spreadhseets and email. Often, this data includes information that the claims professional believes to have been erased or deleted. This program reviews the types of electronic data that can be discovered during litigation, and equips participants with techniques to avoid common traps and pitfalls.



Power Quality Claims identifies and distinguishes between different power quality problems that cause damage to equipment, including wiring & grounding problems, machinery operations, utility operations and lightning. The course will aid in an understanding of the steps to investigate claims and in identifying the cause in which to apply coverage.
