Ponemon Institute Releases 2011 Cost of Data Breach Study

Last month, the Ponemon Institute released their
2011 Cost of a Data Breach study. The 2011 report was the seventh annual U.S. Cost of a Data Breach Study. This year, the institute also released
data breach studies for the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Italy.
Here are some findings based on the United States cost of a Data Breach report:
- The cost of data breaches in the U.S. declined for the first time in seven years, with organizational costs declining from $7.2 million to $5.5 million and cost per record declining from $214 to $194.
