Smoke/Water Loss to Circuit Board Assembly Plant

Scenario
A facility designed specifically for manufacturing and assembling high precision electronic components was affected by smoke and water. A relatively small fire occurred overnight to an in-line board washing system.
Challenge
The system was manufactured with mostly plastic and the fire was highly corrosive. Further, as this was a parts washing system, a large amount of water that was originally inside the unit and associated piping system was dispersed throughout the floor. A localized sprinkler also sprayed water on some high end production equipment. It was estimated that approximately $10M worth of equipment was inside the warehouse. Smoke was noted throughout the facility and chemical wipe samples revealed high levels of contaminants. Therefore, each piece of electronics in the facility warranted decontamination.
Outcome
LWG provided a large crew to complete the restoration and worked hand in hand with manufacturers to bring the insured to full operation. In fact, the insured requested LWG complete decontamination on one piece that was inadequately cleaned by the manufacturer. Coordination was required with the insured’s production staff to ensure production was still online during the restoration project. LWG restored the electronics without a single failure, which was impressive given the amount of inventory.
